Edgar Mkhitaryan Wins First Prize at the “Vigo Junior” International Competition
Edgar Mkhitaryan, a scholarship recipient of the “Armenian Virtuosos” program and a pianist, has achieved another international success, winning First Prize at the “Vigo Junior” International Piano Competition.
The “Vigo Junior” competition is part of the Aline Foriel-Destezet–Argerich Foundation’s competition series, highlighting its international reputation and professional significance.
Held for the first time in 2026 in Vigo, Spain, the “Vigo Junior” competition was organized within the framework of the prestigious “Ciudad de Vigo” International Piano Competition, as a separate international competition for young and emerging pianists.
The competition featured five age categories, welcoming participants from the age of 7 up to 19. Edgar competed in the “Emerging Artist” category, the highest age group of the competition. He successfully advanced through all stages of the competition and, following the final round, was awarded First Prize.
This achievement marks an important milestone in Edgar’s professional journey, giving him valuable experience performing on the international stage and competing in a highly competitive professional environment.
