
Born in 1996, Maria Chiara Bignozzi began studying the bassoon at the age of seventeen with Lorenzo Bettini at the G. B. Martini Conservatory in Bologna, where she graduated with honours in 2018 and again in 2021. She later pursued advanced studies with David Tomas at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe. Since 2024, she has been enrolled in a Master’s degree in Chamber Music at the Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen, studying with Fredrik Ekdahl.
She has participated in masterclasses with Carlo Colombo, Raffaele Giannotti, Bence Bogányi, Sebastian Stevensson, and Marco Postinghel.
As principal bassoon, she has collaborated with the Orchestra of Teatro Bellini in Catania, Musique des Lumières Orchestra in Basel, the Orchestra of Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, and the Cherubini Youth Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Riccardo Muti. She is also a winner of the audition for the Sanremo Symphony Orchestra.
As second bassoon, she has worked with the orchestras of Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro Regio in Turin, the Filarmonica del Comunale di Bologna, I Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano, and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.
She is also active as an independent performer with Trio L’Attesa, with whom she recorded A Taste for Divertimento, an album released by Da Vinci Publishing.
As a soloist, she performed Haydn’s Sinfonia Concertante with the Orchestra of the G. B. Martini Conservatory.
