
Hans Stockhausen (1991) is an acomplished double bassist with a thriving
international career. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Hochschule für
Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where he studied with Janne Saksala, and a Master of
Music degree with Esko Laine, both of the Berliner Philharmoniker. He also trained
with Professor Duncan McTier at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid.
Stockhausen has performed with esteemed orchestras such as the Berliner
Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Berlin, Budapest Festival Orchestra, and Bamberger
Symphoniker, collaborating with conductors such as Simon Rattle, Daniel
Barenboim, Gustavo Dudamel, Bernard Haitink and Iván Fischer, among others.
He currently serves as principal double bass of the Oviedo Filarmonía in Spain,
under the direction of Lucas Macías.
A dedicated educator, Stockhausen shares his expertise through masterclasses and
coaching, including the Berliner Philharmonie’s School Orchestra Meeting, the
Escuela de Música de Cataluña (ESMUC), and the youth orchestra of the Basque
Country (EGO).
As a soloist, he has performed notable works such as Nino Rota’s Divertimento with
the Oviedo Filarmonía. He has appeared at prestigious festivals and venues,
including the Berlin Philharmonie’s Late Night Concerts, BBC Proms, Salzburg
Festival, and the Pierre Boulez Saal, collaborating with distinguished musicians such
as Christian Elsner, Christian Tetzlaff and the Pierre Boulez Ensemble.
